All teams are required to send volunteers to cover the Snack Stand (SS) window at assigned times throughout the season. Harleysville Baseball is 100% volunteer run, so we rely on adult volunteers to keep things running smoothly.
Coaches and Assistant Coaches are excused from SS duty since they already have a pretty big job to do. Other parents from the team should fill the SS shifts.
Coaches can either:
- ask for volunteers from parents for shifts
- assign parents to shifts, allowing them to switch among themselves as needed
Coaches can manage this themselves or ask for a volunteer team parent to handle it for them.
Click here for easy instructions for adding SS shifts to your team calendar on our new website. Also attached are parent instructions on how to sign up for those shifts.
Please be sure that someone is checking in with the SS during your shifts to ensure parents are showing up. If a parent does not show up for their shift, we will come to your game and ask for a new volunteer from the parents present. If no one volunteers, we will stop your game until someone steps up. Luckily, we have never had to do this, but it did come close last year.
HBB relies on the proceeds from the SS to pay for facility improvements each year and keep registration costs low. This year, projects include - significant improvements to the stadium field, fence capping on all fences, and an outfield fence on the Scout Cabin field.
Coaches should share all this information with their parents to ensure everyone understands that love it or hate it, your SS shifts are not optional - and in the end, really do benefit every child in HBB.
If you have any questions or concerns about the snack stand, don't hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help!
